Plant resistance to abiotic stresses

نویسندگان

چکیده

Environmental phenomena often create stressful situations for plants, significantly impacting their metabolism. This can lead to development problems and, thus, drops in production and final quality. Depending on the plant, biotic abiotic stresses reduce average plant productivity by up 90%. Abiotic stresses, particular, are linked environmental factors that indispensable but become limiting under certain conditions. For example, water is essential growth stress, deficiency cause severe damage, as excess, leading stagnation root asphyxia, compromising yield. All factors, extreme conditions, be dangerous crops, so it necessary know all physiological aspects which plants subjected, come into play following control better.

Plant Metabolomics: A Characterisation of Plant Responses to Abiotic Stresses

As with all organisms, plants thrive within a range of environmental conditions that are optimal for their growth and development. They must, however, respond and adapt to conditions that deviate from the optimal, such as low/high temperature, dehydration, high salinity, oxidative stress, heavy metals and nutrient deficiency; these deviations are often responsible for losses in productivity and...

Nitric oxide signaling in plant responses to abiotic stresses.

Nitric oxide (NO) plays important roles in diverse physiological processes in plants. NO can provoke both beneficial and harmful effects, which depend on the concentration and location of NO in plant cells. This review is focused on NO synthesis and the functions of NO in plant responses to abiotic environmental stresses. Abiotic stresses mostly induce NO production in plants. NO alleviates the...

Sunflower Breeding for Resistance to Abiotic and Biotic Stresses

Due to a specific structure of its main organs (root, stem, leaves, and head), sunflower can be successfully grown on marginal soils and in semiarid conditions, and it is more resist‐ ant to abiotic stresses, than other field crops. Unfortunately, it is very sensitive to biotic stresses. In sunflower breeding for resistance to abiotic stresses, the greatest progress has been made in selection f...

Plant Biomass Productivity Under Abiotic Stresses in SAT Agriculture

1.1 Prevalence of abiotic stresses in SAT agriculture The semi-arid tropics (SAT) include parts of 48 countries in the developing world: in most of India, locations in south east Asia, a swathe across sub-Saharan Africa, much of southern and eastern Africa, and a few locations in Latin America (Fig 1). Semi-arid tropical regions are characterized by unpredictable weather, long dry seasons, inco...
